Bedwetting Treatment

Why treat bedwetting?

Wetting the bed has a significant impact and is a distressing experience on a child and their family.

It places children at increased risk of:

  • Low self esteem.
  • Having strong feelings of shame and failure.
  • Becoming withdrawn.
  • There is a financial cost to parents who have to manage children with bedwetting - the additional amount of washing needed to be done and/or money spent on purchasing nappies.

Clinical research shows that bedwetting can have a significant negative impact on the child's emotional and social development. Therefore, treatment should be considered if a child is 6 years old, still wets the bed and is unhappy and uncomfortable about it.
